Billionaire Businessman Olorogun Oskar Ibru Dies At 67

Nigerian business mogul and chairman of the Ibru Organisation, Olorogun Oskar Ibru, has died at the age of 67.

His family confirmed the news in a statement reported by Arise News on Wednesday, saying he passed away after a short illness.

They did not provide further details about the circumstances of his death.

Oskar Ibru was a prominent figure in the country’s corporate scene and a leading member of the Ibru dynasty.

He played a major role in strengthening and growing the conglomerate founded by his father, Olorogun Michael Ibru, whose business interests spanned shipping, oil and gas, real estate, and trade.

His death comes less than 10 years after the family patriarch, Michael Ibru, died in 2016.

Funeral plans will be announced by the family in due course.

Reacting to the news, media mogul Dele Momodu described Oskar Ibru as a warm, sociable personality who was deeply admired.

In a post shared on Instagram, Momodu wrote, “News has just reached me in the skies that one of Nigeria’s most recognisable businessmen, OLORUNGUN OSKAR IBRU, has passed on

“He was an extremely friendly gentleman, and a socialite per excellence, who was loved so passionately by families and friends… He was the son of the business Titan, OLOROGUN MICHAEL IBRU… Rest in peace, dear Brother…”

KanyiDaily also reported how the Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, Major General Muhammad Sami II (rtd), died at the age of 81 while receiving medical care in a London hospital.
