Addressing journalists on Friday, Ondo police commissioner, Adebowale Lawal, said the case came to light on August 26, when a resident, Oluwafemi Oladipupo of Paragon Street, Kajola, reported a suspicious blue plastic drum tied with a rope outside his home.
‘’Upon inspection, authorities found the lifeless body of Otu Ifeanyi stuffed inside the drum, which Amadi was attempting to dispose of using a motorcycle. The drum fell off during transport, leading to his immediate apprehension,” Lawal said.
Lawal explained that Amadi later confessed to the crime, claiming he killed Ifeanyi after accusing him of unlawfully transferring N20,000 from his bank account.
He confirmed that the body has been taken to a mortuary while further investigations continue, adding that Amadi will be charged in court once the case is concluded.
“The corpse has been deposited at the mortuary, and further investigation is ongoing. The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation,” Lawal said
The commissioner also revealed that police operations across the state’s 18 local government areas had led to the arrest of 99 other suspects linked to crimes such as murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, drug trafficking, and theft.
He credited the successes to cooperation between residents and security agencies, urging the public to continue providing timely information to the police.
Meanwhile, a court remanded two brothers, 20-year-old Usman and 26-year-old Toheeb Wasiu in prison after they were accused of verbally attacking a police officer in Oyo state.
