The term “GOAT,” which means “Greatest of All Time,” is often used in sports and entertainment to describe someone at the top of their craft.
During a recent conversation with tennis icon Roger Federer, Burna Boy mentioned Osupa as his GOAT singer.
Reacting on X, Saheed Osupa shared a video from the interview and described the recognition as a major moment for Fuji music.
He said Burna Boy’s tribute not only celebrates his personal journey but also shines a spotlight on Nigeria’s cultural heritage and the lasting impact of Fuji worldwide.
Osupa wrote, “Burna Boy’s heartfelt tribute, naming me as his GOAT singer on a global stage, is a monumental moment that celebrates the soul of Fuji music and its timeless influence.
“This honour not only uplifts my journey, but also shines a brilliant light on our rich cultural heritage, bridging generations and genres worldwide.”
The Fuji star, popularly known as “Oba Orin,” said he is deeply grateful for the gesture, calling Burna Boy a true giant of African music.
He added that both of them, in their own ways, are helping to redefine Africa’s musical legacy and inspire the world with authentic sounds.
“I am profoundly grateful for this powerful acknowledgement from a true Afropop titan, the African Giant himself, of whom I am also a great fan. Together, we are redefining African music legacy and inspiring the world with authentic, vibrant sounds,” he wrote.
“To Oluwa Burna and every music lover embracing our story – thank you for believing in the magic of Fuji. Thank you for believing in Africa’s ingenious creativity.”
Osupa also thanked fans who continue to support Fuji, promising that the genre will keep growing.
He revealed that he plans to attend one of Burna Boy’s upcoming shows to personally express his appreciation.
“I look forward to attending one of your upcoming concerts to appreciate your God-given talents and reciprocate your genuine love and affection. Keep prospering, my beloved Burna #burnaboy. The journey continues, stronger and more radiant than ever!”
