EFCC Uncovers 41 Properties Worth ₦212bn Allegedly Linked To Abubakar Malami

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has linked 41 properties to Abubakar Malami, the former attorney-general of the federation and minister of justice.

The assets include hotels, houses, schools, parcels of land and a printing press located in Kebbi State, Kano State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

According to TheCable, the EFCC estimate that the properties in Kebbi State are worth about ₦162.19 billion.

Those traced to Kano State are valued at roughly ₦16.01 billion, while the properties in Abuja are said to be worth ₦34.69 billion. Altogether, the assets are valued at more than ₦212.8 billion.

Meanwhile, the federal government has filed a 16-count charge against Malami and his son, Abdulaziz Malami.

The charges relate to alleged money laundering offences under Sections 15, 18 and 21 of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act.

KanyiDaily recalls that the EFCC recently dismissed claims made by Abubakar Malami that his arrest was politically motivated.
