During a recent interview on Naija FM, Yvonne Jegede described marriage as “overrated” based on her personal experiences and observations.
She shared her views on relationships, stressing that people often place too much importance on marriage.
According to her, many couples date peacefully for years, but once they get married, problems begin because of the expectations that come with marriage.
“I’ve seen so many people date for 15 years,17 years, and they marry for two years, three years, and then break up. Sometimes you go dey wonder say shebi they for just stay and no marry,” she said.
Yvonne Jegede said she is not completely ruling out marriage but has learned not to force it or make it the foundation of her happiness.
“If it comes, but I’m not looking for it. I have learned not to say never,” she noted..
The actress also spoke about how intolerance often grows after marriage, with both partners insisting on their rights.
“A lot of intolerance dey. The wife will be claiming her rights, the husband will do the same,” she added.
The actress advised people to focus on what truly makes them happy, saying everyone should do what works for them.
” Do what makes you happy and what works for you. And if you find the person you like, make una just dey,” she said.
Yvonne Jegede was previously married to actor and film producer Olakunle ‘Abounce’ Fawole.
The marriage ended in 2019, less than a year after it began, and they have a son together.
KanyiDaily recalls that Yvonne Jegede had revealed that she was heartbroken over the death of one of her adopted children, Olamide Ajimuda, due to cholera.
