The incident occurred on Wednesday around 9:30 p.m. at Gawon Nama Zaga Road, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama.
Police said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) was alerted after a teenager discovered the situation.
The 16-year-old boy, Ahmad Aliyu, reportedly ran to a nearby mosque to inform worshippers that his employer, Badenjki, had consumed mosquito insecticide.
The DPO and his team quickly responded and found Badenjki unconscious at his home.
He was rushed to Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police said a container of Executor mosquito insecticide was found beside him on a chair.
“Upon receiving the information, the DPO and operatives immediately mobilised to the residence. The victim was found unconscious, lying on his bed.
“A container of Executor mosquito insecticide was reportedly found on a blue plastic chair beside him,” the report said.
Police secured the scene, photographed it, and documented evidence for further investigation.
The body has been placed in the hospital mortuary for an autopsy, while senior investigators have taken over the case to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
A source said the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department visited the scene and is leading a discreet investigation into what happened.
