Adeotun Onajobi Faces Six Charges For Criticizing Governor Dapo Abiodun

The Ogun State Police Command has filed a six-count charge against activist and social media commentator Adetoun Onajobi over allegations that she cyberbullied Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The case was filed at the Federal High Court in Abeokuta, the state capital.

In a statement released on Monday, the police spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said Onajobi, also known online as “Just Adetoun,” allegedly made false claims against the governor on social media platforms.

According to the police, Onajobi was invited for questioning on January 2, 2026, to respond to the allegations.

However, she did not show up and her lawyer informed the police that she was unwell and unable to attend.

Adetoun Onajobi ‘F’ is an internet blogger who, in recent times, has used social media and other internet-enabled computer platforms to publish false accusations against the Ogun State Government and to further bully the Governor of Ogun State, in breach of the Cybercrimes Act,” the statement reads.

“On 2nd January, 2026, the Ogun State Police Command invited Adetoun Onajobi for an interview to afford her the opportunity to respond to allegations arising from her online bullying of the Ogun State Governor.

“Rather than honour the police invitation, the suspect, through her lawyer, wrote to the Police claiming she was medically indisposed and unable to attend the meeting.

“Attached to the letter was a medical report allegedly issued by a medical doctor, detailing several medical challenges purportedly suffered by the suspect and the efforts made to treat and stabilise her.

“Discreet investigations by the Police, however, confirmed the falsity of the claims contained in the medical report.

“This led to the arrest of the doctor, who subsequently admitted that the entire medical report was a ruse, crafted at the direction of the suspect, Adetoun Onajobi, during a phone conversation between them, facilitated by her lawyer.”

Babaseyi said the doctor has since been charged for “conspiracy, uttering a false document and obstructing the course of justice”.

The police spokesperson added that the command is determined to use all legal means to ensure Onajobi appears in court to answer the charges against her.

Onajobi has recently posted several videos online criticising Governor Abiodun’s administration, including comments on the handling of medical emergency services following an accident involving former boxing champion Anthony Joshua on December 29, 2025.

KanyiDaily recalls that Governor, Dapo Abiodun recently appointed 1,200 political aides to serve as grassroots “change agents” aimed at boosting public participation in governance.
