Residents said the attackers arrived in large numbers and struck almost at the same time, surrounding the churches and forcefully taking people away.
The churches affected were the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), a Catholic church, and the Seraphim and Cherubim Church.
It was gathered that dozens of men, women, and children were abducted during the attacks.
Although the exact figure is yet to be confirmed, locals believe the number of kidnapped worshippers is above 100.
According to TheCable, Usman Danlami Stingo, a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, confirmed the incident in a phone interview.
“The churches were surrounded by heavily armed bandits who abducted men, women, and children during the Sunday worship,” he said.
The lawmaker added that “nine of the victims managed to escape while they were being taken to the bush by the attackers”.
“The community is currently conducting a headcount to determine the exact number of people still in captivity,” he said.
Attempts to reach the spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, Mansir Hassan, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
