Court Orders Remand Of Arrested Ekpoma Protesters In Prison [Video]

The Edo State High Court, Criminal Court 2, has ordered that several youths arrested during recent protests in Ekpoma be remanded at the Ubiaja Correctional Centre.

The court made the decision on Monday, January 12, 2026,  following a request by the prosecution for a 14-day remand period.

It was gathered that some protesters and their family members cried out as the arrested youths were taken away in a waiting vehicle.

The protest, which took place last weekend in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area, was sparked by growing concerns over kidnapping and other security issues in the town.

Authorities said the police acted quickly to restore order when the protest reportedly got out of hand, ensuring public safety in the area.
