He made the comments during the final stop of his “thank you” tour in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, amid calls from some groups, including the Ijaw Youth Council, demanding his removal due to political tensions in Rivers State and the impeachment process against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Wike emphasized that critics have no authority to dictate his dismissal, stating that only the president, who appointed him, has that power.
He also highlighted the political influence of Obio/Akpor, stressing that the people there have a say in who governs, urging opponents to focus on issues rather than calls for his sack.
“People who say, ‘sack me,’ it doesn’t lie in their mouth. If my appointor believes that I cannot offer anything again, he has the right; it is not that you should tell him.
“Power is not dashed, you struggle for it. After all, if Donald Trump does not have the power, will he go to Venezuela to pick a president? he asked
The former Rivers governor, however, said that the people of the council area had the power to determine will “rule”. For the people of Obio/Akpor, we have the power to dictate who will rule,” Wike said.
KanyiDaily recalls that Rivers State House of Assembly recently began impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the deputy governor, Ngozi Odu.
