Andrew Abueo, the collation officer for AMAC, confirmed that Maikalangu, who currently serves as chairman, secured the position by getting 40,295 votes.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) came in second with 12,109 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trailed with 3,398 votes.
Abueo noted that a total of 62,861 valid votes were counted out of 65,197 votes cast.
He also stated that AMAC has 837,338 registered voters, with 65,676 of them accredited to vote in the election.
