“I Can’t Help Nnamdi Kanu From Opposition” – Cubana Chief Priest Reveals Why He Supports APC

Nigerian socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has addressed those criticizing him over his political choice.

Cubana Chief Priest was specifically responding to criticism over his decision to back the City Boys Movement, the youth arm of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as preparations begin for the 2027 elections.

His reaction comes after businessman Obi Cubana, whose real name is Obinna Iyiegbu, was named South-East Coordinator of the City Boys Movement.

Following his appointment, Obi Cubana led a group of young supporters from the South-East, including Cubana Chief Priest, on a courtesy visit to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma.

The visit triggered strong reactions online, especially from supporters of the Obidient Movement, who backed Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election.

Many questioned why figures once linked to that movement are now aligning with the APC.

In his response, Cubana Chief Priest explained that he cannot push for the release of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu while operating from outside the ruling party.

He suggested that being part of the government gives him a better chance of influencing decisions.

The businessman also stated that he has always been a member of the APC, even during the last election cycle.

According to him, his support for Peter Obi in 2023 was a personal choice that did not reflect his long-term political alignment.

He added that Governor Uzodinma has played an important role in his political journey and that he remains committed to supporting the party.

Cubana Chief Priest further revealed that he plans to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives under the APC platform.

He wrote, “I no fit help MNK from opposition. I have always been an APC. My father, Governor Hope, has worked hard on APC for me not to support him as DG Renewed Hope.

“Last election as Special Adviser to Governor Hope, I worked for Peter Obi, but this time I dey with Asiwaju. Me self I dey run for federal house for my constituency under APC.

KanyiDaily recalls that Cubana Chief Priest recently surprised content creator Lucky Udu with a cash gift after he publicly spoke about his financial troubles.
