Man Arraigned Over Alleged Arrangement Of Abortion For 16-Year-Old Girl In Ondo

A 24-year-old farmer, Micheal Ogedengbe, was arraigned in a Magistrate’s Court in Akure on Thursday, for allegedly conspiring to arrange an abortion for a teenage girl in Ondo State.

Ogedengbe was charged on two counts: conspiracy and illegally giving drugs to induce an abortion.

According to the charge sheet, he and others, who are still at large, allegedly planned on February 1, 2026, in Oka Akoko, Ondo State, to commit the offence of procuring an abortion. This act violates Section 516 of the Criminal Code.

On the second count, Ogedengbe was accused of unlawfully giving drugs to Marvellous Orogbemi, a 16-year-old girl, sometime in January 2023, intending to cause an abortion. This is against Section 228 of the same law.

His lawyer, G.O. Omoedu, asked the court to grant bail on generous terms, assuring that Ogedengbe would not flee.

The Magistrate, R.I. Adelakin, approved bail of N1 million with two sureties.

KanyiDaily also reported how police arrested seven people over a theft case involving goods worth N20.45 million from a commercial store in Ondo State.
