In a post shared on X, Wiz Khalifa said his father died peacefully and that he will always love him and cherish the lessons he taught him.
“Today my father decided not to wake up. I will always love him, miss him and be [grateful] for the things he taught me. He went out like a true yogi, at peace and on his own time. I love you forever Laurence W. Thomaz,” he wrote.
Wiz Khalifa often spoke about his bond with his father, Laurence W. Thomaz.
In the past, his father also reflected on how becoming a parent changed the rapper’s outlook on life.
“[His son] Sebastian’s matured him, but it’s made him more serious and understand: ‘I have to be here; I can’t do the dangerous, reckless things I was doing before: I have this little guy to look out for,’” Thomaz said in a 2019 documentary.
Following the announcement, fans and fellow supporters have flooded social media with messages of sympathy and prayers for the rapper during this difficult time.
KanyiDaily recalls that a Romanian court recently sentenced Wiz Khalifa to nine months in prison for smoking cannabis during a live performance.
