The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has announced that the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026 (WAFCON) will now take place from 25 July to 16 August 2026.
In October 2024, CAF awarded the hosting rights for the tournament to Morocco. The competition was originally scheduled to be held from 17 March to 3 April 2026.
Following discussions between CAF, FIFA, and other key stakeholders, the decision was taken to adjust the dates of the tournament. According to CAF, the change was made to ensure the successful staging of the continent’s premier women’s football competition in light of certain unforeseen circumstances.
Preparations for the tournament are already underway, with all stakeholders expressing confidence that the event will be successfully delivered when it takes place next summer in Morocco.
The TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations remains Africa’s flagship women’s national team competition and is expected to bring together the continent’s top teams for a highly competitive tournament.
