Shortly after the nominees were announced on Sunday, the actress took to her X page to express her frustration and disappointment over the omission.
Lilian Afegbai made it clear that she does not rely on award nominations to prove her worth as an actress.
According to her, she believes that everything happens for a reason and remains confident in her talent and hard work.
She pointed to her role as Idia in the movie “To Kill A Monkey” as proof of the quality of her performance.
The actress said the character gained massive attention from viewers and social media users, becoming one of the most talked-about roles of the past year.
Afegbai said the level of attention the character received speaks for itself, adding that no other role generated as much buzz as Idia did last year.
She wrote, “I always choose to believe everything happens for a reason. I don’t need a nomination for validation.
“The truth is clear: nobody trended like IDIA from TKAM last year. Her acting was 100%. You guys can eat your award.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Lilian Afegbai apologised to all the women in their 30s whom she once judged over their relationship status.
