Fintiri Imposes Curfew In Adamawa LGA After Two Killed In Communal Clash

Fresh violence has broken out in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State following clashes between the Chobo and Bachama communities.

The latest confrontation reportedly started on Saturday night, leaving two people dead and several houses set on fire.

In response to the situation, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has ordered a 24-hour curfew across Lamurde LGA with immediate effect.

Humwashi Wonosikou, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, confirmed the decision in a statement, explaining that the curfew will remain in place until further notice.

Fintiri described the violence as unacceptable and warned that anyone found breaking the curfew would be arrested by security operatives.

The curfew is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice,” the statement reads.

“Governor Fintiri has also directed security agencies to enforce the curfew and maintain law and order in the area.

“Residents are urged to abide by the curfew and provide useful information to security agencies to ensure peaceful coexistence.

“The Governor emphasized that the Government will not condone acts of violence and will take necessary measures to restore peace and order.

“He appealed to residents of Lamurde Local Government Area to cooperate with security agencies to restore normalcy to the area.

“The Government is committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring the safety of all citizens.”

KanyiDaily recalls that at least 24 people were recently killed after gunmen attacked Kirchinga village in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa state.
