The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear at the time of filing this report.
Sources said Ginsau was stuck in the elevator for a long period, and there are concerns that delays in rescue efforts may have contributed to his death.
He is believed to have died from suffocation before help could reach him during the incident on Tuesday.
The incident has sparked outrage and raised questions about safety standards in hotels and public buildings in the Federal Capital Territory.
Many are asking whether regular maintenance checks were conducted on the elevator and whether proper emergency protocols were in place.
Reacting to the incident, Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani called the event both tragic and disturbing.
“The case of Barrister Abdulsalami Ginsau is pathetic. He was reportedly trapped in an Abuja hotel lift and he suffocated to death,” he wrote on Facebook.
“Could it be that power supplying the lift ceased? Could it be that the lift has technical issues? Could it be that it’s just a tragedy of fate? May Allah grant him Aljanna Firdausi. Amin.”
Abdulsalami Ginsau was an active political figure in Kano, serving as the APC State Assistant Organising Secretary. He was elected to this position on March 3, 2026, just 28 days before his death.
