FCT Police Debunks Viral Report Of Kidney Sales In Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that young people in Nyanya, Abuja, were selling their kidneys for money.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, made the clarification in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to her, the police became aware of social media posts claiming that the command had confirmed allegations of kidney sales involving young residents in the Nyanya area.

She said the reports also alleged that an agent operating in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, was buying the kidneys from the young people.

The Police Command in the FCT wishes to categorically state that it has neither received nor confirmed any report of such nature.

“No statement or communication to that effect has emanated from the command,” she said.

The police spokesperson therefore urged residents to ignore the reports and avoid sharing unverified information that could create fear or panic in the community.

Adeh encouraged anyone with credible information about alleged human organ trafficking or other security threats in the FCT to report the matter to the nearest police station.

Residents can also contact the FCT Police Command through 07038979348 or 08028940883.

The command said it remains committed to addressing security concerns and urged members of the public to rely on verified information rather than unconfirmed social media reports.
