The movie features a large lineup of Nollywood actors, musicians and other entertainment personalities, with Akindele also taking on a major role in the production.
The cast includes Waje, Chioma Akpotha, Bisola Aiyeola, John Ekanem, Wunmi Toriola, Lateef Adedimeji, Ireoluwa Olaniyan, Ali Nuhu, Omotunde Adebowale David, popularly known as Lolo1, Mide Iwasokun, Kolapo Omotosho, Shoday, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Uzor Arukwe and Ogbolor.
Ronke Oshodi Oke, Antar Laniyan, Samuel Banks and Ayomide Iwasokun are also part of the project.
The Four is an emotional drama that focuses on friendship, motherhood, courage and the ability of ordinary women to overcome difficult situations.
The story moves between the peaceful Odu Community and the busy city.
It follows Esosa and three close friends who come together to fight for the future of a young man they care about. Their journey puts their friendship, faith and determination to the test.
The movie also highlights Nigerian culture through its use of music, fashion, language and traditional elements. It explores themes such as hope, sacrifice, unity and resilience.
Akindele wrote, directed and produced the film, saying the story would focus on relationships and life experiences that viewers could easily connect with.
Speaking in an interview with BellaNaija published on Monday, the filmmaker said, “Audiences have grown with us over the years, and they expect stories that entertain while reflecting who we are.”
She added, “With The Four, we are exploring the relationships that shape us, challenge us and stay with us. I think audiences will find a part of themselves in this story.”
The film adds to Funke Akindele’s growing list of major cinema projects.
She has become one of Nigeria’s most successful filmmakers, with movies such as Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Battle on Buka Street, A Tribe Called Judah, Everybody Loves Jenifa and Behind The Scenes.
Several of her films have achieved major success at the Nigerian box office, further establishing her as one of Africa’s prominent filmmakers.
The Four: No One Fights Alone will be released globally in cinemas on December 11, 2026, with FilmOne responsible for its theatrical distribution.
