Ghanian President Atta Mills Dead

Ghanian President John Atta Mills is dea. He died just hours after he became ill.

A statement from his office read: “It is with a heavy heart…that we announce the sudden and untimely death of the president of the Republic of Ghana.”

BBC Africa confirmed the announcement and reported that Atta Mills died in a hospital in Accra.

Atta Mills became president of Ghana in 2009 after losing twice. He previously served as vice president. According to the BBC, Atta Mills had been suffering from throat cancer.
