A vehicle belonging to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) involved in an accident on Tuesday, March 12th, at Abak along Ikot Abasi Road/School Road in Akwa Ibom state.
According to reports, the INEC pick up truck which was loaded with bags of election materials including thumb printed ballot papers, somersaulted several times due to excessive speed while it was being escorted by a police Hilux van.
The driver of the truck sustained severe injuries including a broken neck alongside others that were in the vehicle.

Security agencies arrived the scene of the accident and evacuated the injured victims to the hospital, while members of the Abak Police Division conveyed the scattered ballot papers in their vehicle to the Police station.
INEC reportedly confirmed that the ballot papers were officially being moved from Ikot Abasi Local Government Area office to the INEC state head-office in Uyo.
