The former president of Benin Republic, Nicephore Soglo has exposed two countries sponsoring the dreaded terrorist organization, ‘Boko Haram’ in West Africa, especially Nigeria.
Boko Haram, along with Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), which is an affiliation of the Islamic State in the Middle-East, has become a major security threat in the West African region.
While speaking at the constitutional term limits summit in Naimey, Niger Republic, Nicephore Soglo revealed that Boko Haram terrorist group is funded by Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
The ex-president urged Africans – especially West Africa – to unite and solve their problems, and that they should be able to identify their real friends. He said:
“Boko Haram is funded by our friends from Saudi Arabia and our friends from Qatar. Are we friends or not? Let’s tell ourselves the truth. We have to stand together.
“I’m optimistic we are going to win if we stand together.”
Former Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Jonathan who was one of the speakers at the summit, spoke about the constitutional four years tenure given to Presidents, saying it’s not enough for any president to make any meaningful impact in a country.
