The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Aminu Tambuwal as the valid winner of the last governorship election in Sokoto State.
A seven-man panel of the apex court led by Justice Tanko Muhammad, delivered the judgment delivered on Monday, January 20, 2020, after dismissing an appeal filed by the All Progressives Congress and its governorship candidate, Aliyu Sokoto, to challenge Tambuwal’s victory at the March 2019 poll.
Delivering the lead judgment, Justice Uwani Abba-Aji, held that both the Sokoto State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal were right to dismiss the appellants’ appeal on the grounds of failing to adduce credible evidence to prove their case.
