Abuja Court Awards N5 Million To Man Who Sued MTN For Illegal Caller Tunes Deductions [Video]

FCT High court in Abuja has awarded the sum of N5 million to a lawyer, Ezuku Emmanuel Anenih, who sued MTN Telecommunication Service Provider for illegal deductions for unsolicited caller tunes.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the lawyer had on October 2014 sued MTN Nigeria for deducting money from his account illegally for unsolicited caller tunes.

Mr. Emmanuel had complained to MTN about the illegal deductions which MTN evidently acknowledged and subsequently sent him N700 as a compensation.

The lawyer dragged MTN to court in which the Chief Judge of the FCT, Justice Ishaq Bello ordered MTN to pay Mr. Emmanuel N5 million for damages. He was also awarded N500,000 cost for the case by the judge.

Meanwhile, KanyiDaily had reported that an aggrieved customer of MTN Nigeria is heading to court over alleged violation of his privacy by the country’s dominant mobile services provider.

Emeka Ugwuonye, a US-based lawyer and activist, file a lawsuit before a court after he was forced to fingerprint so as to have his SIM registered and reactivated.
