Shekau Warns Buhari Never To Set Foot In Borno Again, Gives Condition For Release Of Chibok Girls

Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau has threathened to attack President Muhammadu Buhari if he sets foot again in Maiduguri, Borno State.

KanyiDaily recalls that Buhari had visited Maiduguri on Wednesday to sympathise with the state over the recent killing of atleast 30 persons on Sunday by terrorists group in the town of Auno.

Shortly after Buhari’s visit to the state, Boko Haram insurgents launched another attack on Jiddari Polo general area of the metropolis, as residents fled their homes into the heart of the city.

In a video obtained by TheCable, Shekau conspicuously warned Buhari that he would be attacked if he visited Maiduguri again, noting that his members are fully on ground in the North-East.

“Buhari came to Maiduguri pretending to be a good man but he is not. He shouldn’t try to return to Maiduguri again,” Shekau said in Hausa language.

“Buhari, fear your Creator. God said you don’t have up to a spider’s web. But you think you are a major general. l swear, you are nothing. Buhari, I am talking to you, you’ll know no peace. Don’t come back to Maiduguri.

“Just go and sit down and think over my comments. And if u think I am the one disrupting your affairs, honestly I am not. You have deceived the people by telling them you are a just leader; carry on!”

He also gave condition for Chibok girls’ release, saying that the schoolgirls would be set free if the federal government let go of the sect members currently in detention.

“Those shouting Bring Back Our Girls, Bring Back Our Girls, the only way to have those girls back is for our men in prison to be released,” he said.

Meanwhile, KanyiDaily had reported that during Buhari’s condolence visit to Maiduguri, he ran into a storm of angry residents who booed his convoy on his way to the Palace of the Emir of Borno.

We had published a video circulating on social media showing hundreds of protesters including children on the road while the president’s convoy drove past.

The residents were heard shouting in Hausa “Bama so, Bama yi, ka samu a kunya.” Meaning “We don’t want you, we’re not interested because you have disappointed us.”
