Namibian Government has reportedly begun the transfer of money into its citizens bank accounts to ease the effect of coronavirus lockdown in the country.
The government had imposed a partial lockdown of the capital, Windhoek, and the coastal town of Walvis Bay to prevent further spread of the coronvirus which has infected 16 persons with no death recorded.
Following the lockdown, we learnt that the government has started transferring money to citizens to ease the hardship faced by them during the movement restriction.
The Africa Facts Zone revealed this on its Twitter handle, @AfricaFactsZone, saying:
“Namibia has started transferring money to its citizens’ bank accounts. They will receive allowances from the Government weekly due to the coronavirus outbreak.“
A citizen of the country confirmed that the government would be paying R750 Namibia dollars, every month starting from Tuesday.
