COVID-19: Those Criticising Us For Relaxing Lockdown Know Nothing About Kano – Governor Ganduje

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje those criticizing his government on steps it is taking to relax the coronavirus lockdown imposed on the state are “making noise.”

Ganduje made the remarks at the launch of the distribution of face masks in the eight local government areas of the metropolis on Monday, May 11, 2020.

According to him, his critics only sit in air-conditioned offices in Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and know nothing about Kano.

“Those criticising the steps being taken by the state government in relaxing the lockdown are only sitting in their air-conditioned offices in Abuja and making noise for they know nothing about Kano, they have no idea about the composition of Kano and they understand nothing about the social set up of the state,” the governor said.

“Kano is a mega city and is a complex society that is bigger than many states in the country. It shares the same characteristics with other megacities of the world and needs to be treated as such.”

The governor however, announced that henceforth, the state abattoir would be allowed to operate during the window hours on Mondays and Thursdays to avoid incessant slaughtering of animals in the nooks and cranny of the metropolis.

Ganduje added that he is relaxing the lockdown to remedy the tension associated with its implementation in the state.

The governor reiterated the need to enforce the wearing of facemasks in the state which he declared as compulsory, the violation of which will be punished.

Also, Ganduje announced the extension of the total lockdown imposed on the state by one week to help further combat the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
