Pastor Who Claimed He Could Cure Coronavirus By Touching Infected Patients, Dies Of COVID-19

Popular Cameroonian pastor, Franklin Ndifor, who ‘lay his hands on’ dozens of confirmed coronavirus patients, has died from the infection.

The 39-year-old pastor, who was a candidate in the central African state of Cameroon’s presidential election in 2018, claimed he could cure Covid-19 by laying hands on infected patients.

In previous weeks, many confirmed positive COVID-19 patients had flocked to his church, where he laid his hands on them and prayed for their healing.

The doctor who treated Ndifor, Dr Gaelle Nnanga told the Voice of America (VOA) that the Pastor died less than 10 minutes after suffering severe respiratory difficulties resulting from COVID-19.

Nnanga told VOA that he took a medical team to the late Pastor’s house after he got calls from some members of Ndifor’s Kingship International Ministries Church that he was having severe respiratory difficulties.

One of the followers of the pastor, Rigobert Che said the cleric on Wednesday, May 13, prayed for him and several dozen people diagnosed with COVID-19 recently.

He said Ndifor’s death had brought panic to the hundreds of people who had been visiting him for prayers for a divine cure.

According to Che, the pastor has been laying hands on the sick and claiming that he was able to cure Covid-19.

“This is a pastor that has been laying hands [on the sick] and claiming that he cures COVID-19,” Rigobert Che said.

“If you, the person that claims that you are curing COVID-19, you are dead, what about the fellow people that were affected by the COVID-19? Now that he is dead, I do not know how the people that he was laying hands on will be healed.”

Meanwhile, health officials have asked those who had contact with the pastor to report to hospitals to be tested for COVID-19.

Pastor Ndifor has been buried in front of his residence by workers of Cameroon’s COVID-19 response team in Douala.
