Popular Nigerian singer, Burna Boy has reacted after he was accused of being tribalistic over a coment he made about Fulani herdsmen allegedly attacking residents of Oyigbo in Rivers State.
KanyiDaily had reported that on Thursday night, residents of Oyigbo had came under attack by unknown ungunmen and some people believe the killings was carried out by Fulani herdsmen.
Reacting on his Twitter page, Burna Boy tweeted about an ongoing attack at OBIGBO and OYIGBO, wondering how Fulani herdsmen got to Port Harcourt in the first place.
He, however, warned that his comment should not be taken as a “tribal thing” as he does not understand why some Nigerians are stll trying to break Nigeria into tribes.
“Please, on no account should this become a tribal thing. I cannot even believe that can still be in people’s minds in 2020. Fix Nigeria, don’t break it into tribes,” he wrote.
However, a Twitter user identified as Abubakar Hidimi accused Burna Boy of hypocrisy.
He wrote: “This is your @burnaboy and his expressive hypocrisy born out of bigotry & rancor. He deleted the tweet though, but it has been saved. Then see his second tweet in the 2nd frame.”
In reaction, Burna boy then apologized for his tribalistic comment against the Fulani herdsmen saying he didn’t mean any harm by what he said. He weote:
“This is from the bottom of my soul. I did not mean any harm by what I said. I sincerely apologise for coming across that way. I’m already in a dark place inside. You are my Brother and I LOVE YOU. Please don’t be offended. We are all hurt, angry, afraid and confused right now.”
Burna boy has also revealed he hasn’t slept since the night of the Lekki massacre as it has traumatized him. In his words, “I HAVE NOT SLEPT since 20/10/2020. I close my eyes and all I see is Lekki toll gate. I’ve seen a lot of Violence and death in my Life but this is the one that has Traumatized me.”
This comes after President Muhammadu Buhari addressed Nigerians on #EndSARS protests which was ongoing across Nigeria, until Tuesday night’s massacre of the peaceful protesters by Nigerian Army at Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos State.
