MAVIN Record founder, Don Jazzy has taken to his social media to announce the signing of an 18-year-old female singer, Ayra Starr, to his record label.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, January 21, 2021, Don Jazzy described Ayra Starr as an all-round superstar whose soulful voice has made him able to see the world from a teenager’s perspective.
He wrote: “Last year I met the most incredible 18 year old girl, her name is @AyraStarr. Through her lyrics guided by her soulful voice I am able to see the world from a teenagers point of view.
“Ayra is not just an amazing artist, she is an all round superstar. It’s been a fantastic experience working behind the scene for over a year and we at Mavin Global are super proud to present to the world today #AyraStarr.”
Ayra Starr has also debuted a 5-track EP shortly after getting unveiled. The self-titled EP showcases her effective writing skills and polished vocal abilities.
The Benin-born, Lagos-based singer navigates love and relationships (“Away”, “Ija” and “Memories”) as well as teenage angst and vices (“Sere” and “Ditr”).
It’s a joyful experience shaped by a sophisticated soundscape—electric guitar riffs and subtle percussion merge with her unflappable voice to produce a delicious cocktail of heartfelt and carefree anthems.
KanyiDaily recalls that a year ago, Don Jazzy has unveiled a new multi-million creative studios in Lekki, Lagos State, to mark his 37th birthday.
