DSS Arrests Ganduje’s Aide, Dawisu For Demanding Buhari’s Resignation Over Insecurity

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested Salihu Tanko Yakasai, popularly known as Dawisu, who is a media aide of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

Dawisu was arrested by the DSS on Friday, hours after calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to check Nigeria’s worsening insecurity or resign.

Confirming his arrest on Saturday, one of Ganduje’s aides on Twitter, @sadeqhenry tweeted, “Alhamdulillahi we just confirmed @dawisu is at DSS office.”

Mr Tanko’s father, Tanko Yakassai, also told PREMIUM TIMES on Saturday morning that his son was being taken to Abuja from Kano.

Before his arrest, Dawisu had called for Buhari’s resignation following the abductions of 27 schoolboys in Kagara, Niger State and 317 schoolgirls in Jangebe, Zamfara Dtate.

In a series of tweets, the governor’s aide had said the All Progressive Congress (APC) has failed to deliver on its primary responsibility of protecting the lives and properties of Nigerians.

Mr Tankon noted that if it was under another President’s watch that the abductions had happened, there would have been more outrage in the North.

“Clearly, we as APC government, at all levels, have failed Nigerians in the number 1 duty we were elected to do which is to secure lives & properties. Not a single day goes by without some insecurity in this land. This is a shame! Deal with terrorists decisively or resign.

“Each time another tragedy happens, we lament, condemn, create a hashtag, the govt pretends to do something, no concrete steps to prevent reoccurrence, and then we repeat the process. To what end? Where are those saddled with the responsibility?

“Just last week, it was #freekagaraboys, today we have a new hashtag, #RescueJangebeGirls; who knows tomorrow what hashtag we will come up with? Perhaps one for ourselves when we get caught up in one of these daring attacks. This is sad & heartbreaking; I feel helpless & hopeless.

“I completely agree. Hypocrisy is in our DNA. Imagine what’s happening in the North now under GEJ or OBJ, what you will hear is he’s the enemy of the North and Muslims, but here we are, being ravaged by all sorts of insecurity but no collective rage, sai useless lamentations. SMDH.”

KanyiDaily recalled last year, Dawisu was suspended by Governor Ganduje after his remark against Buhari during the #EndSARS protest, but was reinstated after two weeks.
