Erigga had on September 1, praised musicians who did not have financial support from wealthy families and had to work hard to build their careers.
He wrote on X, “Shoutout to all the musicians who don’t come from family money and had to grind for every single dollar they earn.”
Davido, however, disagreed with the message, saying musicians who grew up with money should also be recognised if they worked hard to become successful.
In a post on Wednesday night, Davido described Erigga’s message as “useless motivation” and referred to the rapper as an “imbecile.”
He wrote, “No be we say make your pops no guard o. Shoutout to the ones that came from family money and still grind to the top. Comot here with that your useless motivation … imbecile.”
Davido also hinted that he may eventually step away from music to focus on building more wealth.
“No worry o I go soon leave their music for una go make my billions… then that shit gonna be boring AF,” he wrote.
The singer concluded by questioning whether anyone truly wants to experience poverty, asking, “Deep down, who like poverty?”
