Police Arrests Three Suspects Over Assassination Attempt On Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom

Benue State Police Command has arrested three persons in connection with the assassination attempt on the state governor, Samuel Ortom.

KanyiDaily had reported how Governor Ortom ran over 1.5 kilometers on foot to escape an attack by suspected herdsmen on his farm at Tyo-mu community.

President Muhammadu Buhari had called for an open and transparent investigation in which whoever is linked to the attack, should be arrested to face the law.

While addressing journalists on Tuesday, Security Adviser to Ortom, Col. Paul Hemba, disclosed that the police have arrested three Jukun fishermen in connection to the assassination attempt.

The Nation quoted Hemba as saying the police team found the fishermen close to the scene of the attack and were being investigated.

This comes after the Fulani Nationality Movement (FUNAM) claimed responsibility for thr attack, saying it planned to kill Governor Ortom, but suffered a setback due to a slight communication error.
