A female police officer reportedly fired a teargas cannister at Sowore who sustained an injury from the shot and has been rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.
Human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, confirmed that Sowore was shot live on Facebook by an officer said to be an Assistant Commissioner of police (ACP).
“@YeleSowore has just been shot by a female police officer at the Unity Fountain in Abuja.
“The criminal officer is said to be an ACP. I watched Sowore being shot live on Facebook.
“This is what Nigeria has been turned into under Buhari. They’ve declared war on the Civic Space,” he wrote.
