Traders at Aba Shopping Center in Abia State have suspended business activities because of the trial of Nnamdi Kanu.

Aba Shopping Center in Abia State has been shut down on Monday morning over the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Traders at the popular market were said to have suspended business activities because of Nnamdi Kanu’s trial today at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

One of the traders, who spoke with Daily Trust, said that they did not shut down in solidarity with Kanu but for the fear that there could be violence later in the day.

Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial

KanyiDaily had reported that the IPOB leader will be arraigned today, July 26, 2021, for the continuation of his trial before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja.

He is facing several charges among which are possession of illegal firearms, terrorism and Treasonable felony, which carries the death penalty.

The trial comes following the arrest and extradition of Nnamdi Kanu to Nigeria on Sunday, June 27, after he jumped bail and fled the country in 2017.
