DSS Finally Allows IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu To Meet His Family In Detention

The Department of State Services (DSS) has finally allowed the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to meet his family in detention.

Kanu, who has been in DSS detention, was denied access to his family after he was rearrested and repatriated from Kenya on June 27, to face trial on charges of treasonable felony, illegal arms possession, terrorism, among others.

Nnamdi Kanu Meets His Family

In a series of tweets on Monday, August 16, Nnamdi Kanu’s lead counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor revealed that the DSS has finally granted the IPOB leader freedom to meet his family, nearly two months after he was allegedly abducted in Kenya and returned to Nigeria.

Ejiofor disclosed that the IPOB leader is in good spirit when he met with his brother, Emmanuel Kanu who was in the company of his legal team at the DSS headquarters in Abuja.

“We just concluded today’s routine visit on a very sound note. What made today’s visit unique is that today marks it the first Day Our Client -Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is setting his eyes on his sibling.

“In my company during the Family’s maiden visit to Our Client. Our Client is Prince Emmanuel Kanu (Fine Boy), the Representative of Our Client’s family.

“Our Client- Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is very strong in spirit. You will hear the rest from Prince Emmanuel Kanu,” Ejiofor said.

Meanwhile, former IPOB deputy leader, Uche Mefor has accused Nnamdi Kanu of committing “sacrilege and abomination” against Igbo people as the group’s leader.
