Nigerians Who Fail To Link Their NIN-SIM Won’t Get Passports, Driving Licence – NCC Warns

The NCC has warned that Nigerians who fail to link their NIN-SIM would not get passports and driving licence.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has urged telecoms consumers to link their National Identity Numbers (NINs) with their Subscriber Identity Modules (SIMs) before the expiration of the deadline of October 31, 2021.

NCC Director of Public Affairs, Dr Ikechukwu Adinde warned that Nigerians who fail to link their NIN and SIM would be denied acquisition of driving licences, passports and other important services.

‘NCC has reminded and urged telecoms consumers to link their NINs with their SIMs before the expiration of the deadline of October 31, 2021 set by the Federal Government.

“Soon, people without NIN will be denied necessary services that play vital roles in their lives including acquisition of driving licence, passport,” Adinde said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

The NCC argued that the NIN-SIM integration exercise will improve national security as “NIN is the primary identity for Nigerians’

The commission stressed that in line with Federal Government’s commitment to ensure that Nigeria deploys technology to improve service delivery, the NIN-SIM database will enhance citizens’ access to government services”.

KanyiDaily recalls that the Federal government had since on December 15, 2020 ordered Nigerians to link their NIN-SIM ahead of the deadline which had several be extended.
