Armed police officers have dispersed Buhari-Must-Go protesters who were demonstrating on the streets of Abuja on Nigeria’s 61st independence day anniversary.
The protesters had in the early hours of Friday stormed the Dantata Bridge on the popular Airport Road in Abuja, demanding the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The protesting youths, who were wielding large banners and placards, made bonfires in the middle of the road while chanting “Buhari must go”
Heavily armed policemen were said to have stormed the area, fired tear gas canisters, and dispersed the protesters with a hot chase.
As of the time of filing this report, it cannot be ascertained if anyone had been arrested for the protest which coincided with the nation’s 61st Independence Anniversary.
