Two police officers have been shot dead and their bodies burnt by unknown gunmen who ambushed their vehicle in a community in Anambra State.
Anambra command spokesperson, Ikenga Tochukwu who confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, said one officer is still missing following the attack on Thursday.
Tochukwu said the slain officers were traveling in a vehicle with five other officers and three civilian drivers when they were ambushed by gunmen.
While two police officers were killed and burnt, the other three were able to fight their way out of the ambush and rescue two civilian drivers travelling with them.
“In the attack, two police officers were killed and their bodies were burnt while one of the officers is still missing,” Tochukwu said.
This comes a few days after gunmen killed a police officer and brutalize the DPO with a machete before burning the police station and vehicles in Imo State.
