Four mobile police officers have been killed on Thursday morning by unknown gunmen at Oraifite community, in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State.
It was gathered that the incident happened this morning when the gunmen opened fire on the policemen and made away with the weapons of the dead officers.
Although efforts to confirm the exact number of casualties in the attack failed, PM News reports that no fewer than four policemen were gunned down in the attack.
A source close to the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that both the dead and injured were taken to a nearby hospital in the area.
Anambra has been plagued with insecurity over the past few months since gunmen with unknown identities called for the boycott of the November 6 governorship election in the state. The call has ignited series of clashes with security agencies, leading to several deaths.
