22-Year-Old Lady Asked To Choose Between Her Boyfriend And Scholarship Abroad

Nigerians have taken to social media to react to the story of a 22-year-old lady who was asked to choose between her boyfriend and a scholarship offer abroad.

A Nigerian researcher based in Canada, Rita Orji had taken to her Twitter page to narrate how she received an email from a 22-year-old lady who recently got a fully-funded scholarship admission for a master’s degree programme abroad.

According to Orji, the lady is facing a tough situation as her boyfriend threatened to break up with her if she decides to pursue the programme, and she’s scared of losing the man because he already promised to marry her.

Orji said the lady had written her to solicit her opinion and that of others on whether she should stay back for her boyfriend or go for her fully-funded scholarship abroad.

She wrote, “Woke up to an email from a lady who got a fully-funded admission for an MSc abroad Her ‘boyfriend’ told her to choose between the admission & him. She seeks advice.

“I don’t interfere in relationship issues but think it’s unfair to put her in such a state. People have diff priorities.”

The post has continued to elicit several reactions on Twitter, with many Nigerians sharing their views using the hashtag ‘#She’s22’.

KanyiDaily had also reported how a 20-year-old lady was sentenced to jail after the police unraveled how she created 30 fake Instagram accounts to get her innocent ex-boyfriend imprisoned.
