Nigerians have taken to social media to react to the story of a 22-year-old lady who was asked to choose between her boyfriend and a scholarship offer abroad.
A Nigerian researcher based in Canada, Rita Orji had taken to her Twitter page to narrate how she received an email from a 22-year-old lady who recently got a fully-funded scholarship admission for a master’s degree programme abroad.
According to Orji, the lady is facing a tough situation as her boyfriend threatened to break up with her if she decides to pursue the programme, and she’s scared of losing the man because he already promised to marry her.
Orji said the lady had written her to solicit her opinion and that of others on whether she should stay back for her boyfriend or go for her fully-funded scholarship abroad.
She wrote, “Woke up to an email from a lady who got a fully-funded admission for an MSc abroad Her ‘boyfriend’ told her to choose between the admission & him. She seeks advice.
“I don’t interfere in relationship issues but think it’s unfair to put her in such a state. People have diff priorities.”
The post has continued to elicit several reactions on Twitter, with many Nigerians sharing their views using the hashtag ‘#She’s22’.
My only question was:
What is at stake if you choose one option over another?
Based on this and your priorities, you can decide on what to do if he refuses to change his stand
She said, the guy may break up with her and he promised to marry her.

She is 22 years.
What would you do if you were the girl or her boyfriend?

"At 22", if you're reading this, please leave that guy/imbecile, block him on all platforms, go for your Masters Degree and Flourish as God has intended you to. I will sing at your wedding when you meet the man really meant for you. I hope you see this.

no sane man will ask you to choose between advancing your education and himself, the fact that it’s even up for debate is preposterous, that woman should go for her Masters, she’s 22, she got her entire life ahead of her to be restrained by relationship

If at 22 you’re not focused on making it big but rather focus on pleasing your lover then you deserve what ever you get in future.
If She’s 22 and don’t know what’s right for her how did she graduate from Uni?

On the issue of the lady with a fully funded scholarship who was asked to pick the Msc or stay and marry.
Everyone is saying, a partner that doesn't want you to go for Msc doesn't want the best for you. I don't agree to the absoluteness of that claim and I'll explain.

She’s 22 give her time to decide on what she wants. Don’t pressurize her too much, Support her career, pray for her & push her to be a better version of herself. At 22 all she needs from you are all these things listed, not for you to give options to pick between you & her career

The 22 year old babe has only one option.
She's 22.
She'll elevate her situation, become more valuable and hopefully have a better class of men to pick from when he eventually decides to do that.
At 22, you have your entire life in front of you.
Don't tie yourself down.

I see it thus, in as much as finding a suitable future partner isn't always guaranteed, the current relationship isn't guaranteed too and when it fails, the regret and ruin will be more.
I also believe a young person's personal growth or development >>>> anything. she's 22/at 22 https://t.co/urWUB1Gnst
