Buhari Meets Exiting Ministers

KanyiDaily recalls that President Buhari had ordered all his cabinet members aspiring for elective offices in the 2023 elections, to tender their resignations on or before May 16, 2022.

The directive is in line with the provisions of section 84(12) of the electoral act which states that: “No political appointee at any level shall be a voting delegate or be voted for at the convention or congress of any political party for the purpose of the nomination of candidates for any election.”

The meeting on Friday was attended by Chris Ngige, minister of labour and employment; Rotimi Amaechi, transportation minister; Paulen Tallen, minister of women affairs, and Godswill Akpabio, minister of Niger Delta affairs.

Others are Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation; Ogbonnaya Onu, minister of science and technology; Uche Ogar, minister of state for mines and steel; Timipre Sylva, petroleum minister, and Tayo Alasoadura, minister of state for Niger Delta affairs.

KanyiDaily had earlier reported that Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, minister of state for education; Akpabio and Onu have resigned their appointments.
