Blackout Across Nigeria As National Grid Collapses Again – Sixth Time In 2022

The National Grid has suffered another system collapse on Wednesday resulting in a blackout in some parts of the country.

Nigeria’s Power Grid Collapse

Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that the grid collapse occurred at about 11:27 am.

The statement reads, “Dear Customers, we regret to inform you of a system collapse on the National grid at precisely 11:27a.m today, July 20.

“We are in talks with the Transmission Company of Nigeria to ascertain the cause of the collapse and a possible restoration timeline. We will keep you updated on the situation.”

Kaduna Electric Distribution Company Plc, also shared a similar message with customers, assuring customers of “normal power supply as soon as possible”.

The collapse of the national power grid made it the sixth time this year, as KanyiDaily had reported on June 13 that the power grid collapsed for the fifth time in 2022.
