The Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) has claimed responsibility for the attack at the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje in Abuja.
KanyiDaily had reported how gunmen attacked Kuje prison in Abuja on Tuesday night, freeing over 800 inmates including 64 detained Boko Haram insurgents.
In a video released on Wednesday night, the ISWAP terrorist sect showed some of its men shooting their way into the facility as they chanted, “Allahu Akbar!”
An elderly man dressed in native attire and young men were seen shouting on top of their voices while claiming responsibility for the attack with many fighters marching as vehicles and buildings were on fire.
The Islamic State’s A’maq Agency released the video written in Arabic with the caption: “Fighters of Islamic State attacked Kuje prison in Abuja yesterday and succeeded in freeing dozens of prisoners.”
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the Kuje Prison break, wondering how terrorists organized, attacked a security installation and got away with it.
