EFCC: 5 Luxury Cars, iPhones, Laptops  Recovered From 45 Suspected ‘Yahoo Boys’ In Enugu

The suspects were nabbed at different locations at Trans Ekulu

A total of forty-five (45) suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo Boys”, have been arrested by operatives of the Enugu zonal command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Enugu State.

The suspects were nabbed at different locations at Trans Ekulu in the state on August 9th.

Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren in a statement made available to Kanyi Daily on Tuesday, said various items were recovered from the suspects.

He listed the items recovered recovered from to include five luxury vehicles, several mobile phones and laptops.

According to him, the suspects include Michael Chidiebere, Ogbu Chekwube, Edeh Peter, Nweze Ifeanyi, Emeka Nwankwo, John Chibuike, Paschal Tochukwu, Eze ifeanyi, Raphael Chukwuemeka .P, Kennwth Akwozo, Chukwuebuka Ogbonna, Chunedu Ephraim.N, Emmanuel Nnaji, Ychenna Nweke.E, Orji Chisom , Eze Emmanuel, Obodoeze Samson, Onyedikachi Samuel, Ikenna Chijioke, James Tochukwu, Uche Obieze and Ekwunife Chinonso.

Others include Adimoranma Christian, Godwin Chukwuemeka, Nnamezie Chidi, Bright Chineme, Vitus Makwe, Nwokeji Joshua Chetachukwu, Nzube Daniel. Stephen Ogbuabor, Sunday Dimeze Chidi, Ebuka Ilouno, Michael Chidere, Ikechukwu Michael, Oferka Frank, Onyia Joseph, Amagba Tochukwu, Ogbuabor Emmanuel, Michael Obi, Emmanuel Chidere, Chijioke Ugwu, Ugwuoko Obinna, Emeka Obilo, Mbah Ebube and Onah Kasie.

“They will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is completed,” his statement reads briefly.

Arrests of internet fraudsters have become an almost daily phenomenon as there is hardly a day without the agency making arrests of suspects.

It is unclear whether the rate or amount of conviction of these fraudsters is enough deterrence for others.

Kanyi Daily recalls that eight days ago, the EFCC said it arrested forty-seven (47) suspected internet fraudsters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State and recovered six expensive vehicles, phones and laptops from them.
