EFCC Arrests 29 Suspected Yahoo Boys Over Alleged Internet Fraud In Kwara

EFCC said the arrest followed credible intelligence received on the activities of the suspects.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 29 suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys, in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State.

A statement on Thursday by the head of the media unit of EFCC, Wilson Uwujarien, said the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Office following credible intelligence received by the EFCC on their criminal activities.

Uwujarien added that the suspects were arrested at different locations in Offa LGA for their alleged involvement in internet and other related fraud activities.

The suspects include: Sikiru Mustapha, Abdulmartin Olawale, Gbolahan Abdulamin, Abdulfawaz Olakanmi, Tunde Saheed, David Komolafe, Adebayo Ridwan, Oluwatobi Akinbo, Fatimehin Kayode, Ibrahim Zakariya, Olajide Moshood, Ikudaisi Adesoji, Habeeb Adeyemi and Hassan Akorede.

Others are: Ahmed Quadri, Olanipekun Ibrahim, Olabisi Ololade, Ahmed Akorede, Wasiu Adesina, Damilola Samsudeen, Olaloye Damilare, Nathaniel Laoshe, Adeniyi Opeyemi, Adebayo Shahajudeen, Segun Ajila, Kehinde Olaniyi and Ibitowa Toyeeb.

Items recovered from the suspects include mobile phones, laptops and cars.

Uwujarien said that some of the suspects confessed to the crime and they will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.

This comes barely six days after EFCC arrested another 42 suspected internet fraudsters with 13 exotic cars, and other items at various locations in Asaba, Delta State.
