A 36-year-old Nigerian man, John Lyon who is known for flaunting his wealth on social media, has been arrested by the police on suspicion of being a kidnapper.
It was gathered that the suspect who is well known in Bayelsa for living a lavish lifestyle in clubs and bars, was arrested in Abuja during a failed operation.
Some reports indicate that ‘John Lyon the kidnapper’ was arrested by the police after a N70 million ransom payment was allegedly traced to his bank account.
In a video circulating on social media, Lyon was seen stripped and left in his underwear while being surrounded by men who appeared to be police detectives.
The Bayelsa big boy confessed to belonging to a kidnap gang but stated that he only participated in two operations before he got arrested.
But another man behind the camera, who seems to be a victim, countered him, saying Lyon was one of those who attempted to butcher him after he was kidnapped. He vowed that he would testify against him in court.
The suspect broke into tears while pleading for forgiveness, alleging that his wife had just been put to bed and that his arresters should temper justice with mercy.
It was gathered that John Lyon is a millionaire from Bayelsa based in Abuja. He’s a former staff of Sterling Bank. He uses the name Lyon Interior as a cover-up for illicit criminal activities.
Another photo of Lyon during a church service also reveals that he is a deeply religious man. He could be observed in the still photograph engaging in passionate prayer.
This comes a few days after Billionaire kidnapper Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, was sentenced to 21 years imprisonment for kidnapping.
