No fewer than seven persons were feared killed when gunmen attacked the senator’s convoy at Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka local government area of Anambra State.
Three of his aides were killed while three security operatives also died during the ambush.
According to eyewitnesses, Ifeanyi Ubah was ambushed by heavily armed men who opened fire on his convoy. The senator’s car was riddled with bullets but he reportedly escaped.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command CP Echeng Echeng has led Operatives to the scene.
This was contained in a statement signed by the the state police spokesperson DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, who disclosed that the incident is still sketchy with assurance that his operatives are on ground to put the situation under control.
Senator Ifeanyi Ubah who celebrated his 51st birthday a week ago is the candidate of the Young Progressive Party, YPP, for 2023 election.
